X-Fi Ubuntu 8.04 Driver Install

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4823915&postcount=675 Follow that guide, but install Ubuntu 64 bit and DO NOT install important security updates. For some reason I can't compile the kernel if I install the updates. This is probably related to the new kernel that is installed.

Windows Vista Windows XP Dual Boot Ubuntu 8.04 Tri boot partitioning

If you have Windows Vista and Windows XP already installed and have more than 4 GB of free unallocated space just boot Ubuntu 8.04 and select "Guided - use the largest continuous free space". It takes your unallocated space and puts Ubtuntu on it without affecting your Windows installations. They boot right up.

Combat Arms crash after round end

Combat Arms crashs after map load or after a certain repeatable function. Fix: Turn off Mumble Overlay. If that does not work turn off any program that uses directx rendering, e.g. Steam, Mumble, Xfire, etc. Thanks to Snipes for the solution. Also, if you are using Xfire voice chat and playing Combat Arms, this could also trigger the bug. Seems to be triggered by Combat Arms' change from one part of the program to the other when the screen goes black after the round ends to go back to the menu. Most games to not do this and apparently there is some sort of rendering break that causes other programs to interfere with the process and make Combat Arms crash.

Unreal Tournament 3 Crashes

Unreal Tournament 3 Crashes within a few minutes/seconds of entering a server.

Delete C:\Users\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame or equivalent. Make sure you remember your login info though! You can try deleting everything but SaveData from the UTGame folder and see if it solves the crash also. The SaveData folder has your profile file in it.

Why this blog is here

I fix many computer problems and sometimes the answer is very hard to find. In this blog I will post problems that were very hard for me to solve, but I finally found the answer for. This is not a personal blog, and if you have a variation on the fixed problem depending on your computer's hardware/software please post a comment on the fix. Please do not post comments unless you think it will be useful in helping others. The problem fixes are in the order I find them, and the sole purpose of them is to help fellow googler's find the answer to their problem as quickly as possible.
